Kilimanjaro Trek

Sweat, tears, joy and altitude sickness were just some of the things Fran, Jon, Mick and Anne went through in a bid to climb Kilimanjaro and raise money for The Boparan Charitable Trust.

Climbing the highest free-standing mountain in the world certainly took its toll, but the fantastic four were determined to make it to the top. Fran said “I thought it was going to be a bit like child birth, extremely painful, but you’ll soon forget what you’ve put your body through. I was wrong! I still remember how challenging and exhausting it was!”

Fran continued to say, “The fact we all made it to the top was a massive relief, everyone supported each other and when I got to the bottom I realised we could have died up there. I’m so thankful to everyone who has donated; it really helped spur us on”

Alexa Southall from the Boparan Charitable Trust jokes, “I’m so impressed with our trustee Fran and the rest of the group; it is such an amazing achievement……. that they didn’t take their laptops and work at the top! In all seriousness, it’s an amazing achievement and on behalf of the charity I’d like to say thank you. “

With your support, climbing Kilimanjaro has raised in excess of £30,000 and this magnificent sum will go directly to helping children with disabilities, terminal illness & living in poverty.

We asked Fran whether she has any inspirational words for the children, she simply said “You can always achieve more than what you think with perseverance and the right attitude.”
